Welcome to my blog!

Hi, I'm Rocky. I'm a Doberman.

I was born on the 17th July 2017. I am brown, called "red" in the USA. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters. When I was 8 weeks and 2 days old I left them when I met my new mum and dad, Margaret and Colin, and went to live with them.

In this blog I shall post all the things that are happening to me as I grow from "puppyhood" and through my "adulthood" as well as letting you know how I got this far in my life.

There will be lots of photos of me as both my mum and dad enjoy taking photos.

That's all for now folks, I do hope you keep coming back and seeing what I have been up to,

best wishes,

Rocky

My life for the remainder of 2018

Here's me on my new bed in June...

...and here's me on the floor also in June!

Then, a few days before my 1st birthday a visit to the vet who had performed my brilliant heart surgery.

I can't remember anything about it as I was asleep but these photos show something going on with my testicles.

I know I went into the vets with 2 and came out with 2 but the vet kept going on about silicone implants which I don't understand. However, dad seemed very happy.

And then it was my first birthday! A great day.

By September...

...I am really growing up.

Here, in November, I'm lounging on the terrace with my favourite ball.

A couple of pictures of me before Christmas...

......and that's it for 2018 - the year I grew from a puppy into a Doberman!

I'm 11 (months)!

It's been a busy time recently so here's a few photos of me spanning the last 4 months.

One of the most important things has been the heart specialist at the vets giving me a clean bill of health.

In the last few months I've also completed my course of vaccinations so now I'm immune to just about everything!

I've spent a lot of time growing. This has not been entirely problem free as I have suffered from a limp, first in one of my front legs and then in one of my hind legs.

Mam and dad took me to the vets and I was diagnosed with "growing pains", you could actually see where the pain was on the x-rays of my leg bones.

I'm OK for the moment now.

Dad bought me a harness and made the adhesive side panels with my name.

I think he'll have to change that one when I mature!

I've had a succession of collars as I have grown. The one above is leather and was bought for my predecessor but she never grew to fit it so I got it brand new and it's not even on the tightest setting.

However, for the last month or so, I've been wearing a chain collar - it's rather smart.

One of my favourite toys are these squeaky tennis balls but I have been weaned off them recently as they would only last a few hours before I demolished them.

One of my best places to sit is on the front doorstep in the early morning sun...

...and that's where dad joined me for this photo.

So, as you can see, I've done a lot of growing recently...

...and here I am on my 11th birthday, (11 month birthday that is!)

I'm growing up!

My adult canine teeth have grown and I'm 7 months old today.

In the photo above you can see my new top canine tooth next to my smaller puppy canine tooth...

...and in this photo my puppy canine tooth has gone.

I'm growing up and turning from a Doberboy into a Doberman!

An update

Just thought I'd get dad to post a couple of recent photos of me.

At the moment I'm a week under being 7 months old and when I was weighed yesterday I was a fraction under 27 kg.

Mum and dad both agreed I had grown while I was on holiday - and I'm still growing!

My first holiday

A few weeks ago, just over 3 to be precise, mum, dad and I went for a ride in the car, which I love, but after a while we ended up at a place I had never been to before. There were lots of other dogs there and I got to run around with them. The lady in charge, Gabriella, was very understanding and certainly knew how to treat her dogs. Surprisingly, mum and dad didn't come back for me as I thought they would and I was rather concerned about this as I had really enjoyed being with them. However, this new place was good, plenty of interesting things, lots of new friends, plenty of exercise and the food was good - what more could I want. I made friends with a female dog called Lily who I played with during the day and we were such good friends that we stayed together at night. This went on for over 3 weeks and by this time I was wondering if mum and dad were coming back, were they missing me as much as I was missing them and would they remember me?

Then one morning, they came and they did remember me, just watch the video. Then they brought me home. Wow, that was my first holiday!

A Happy New Year!

Well Christmas was great and I have just experienced my first New Year celebration - wonderful!

To see the New Year in, dad and I were "first foot" - well, dad was the first foot to enter the house after midnight and I was first paw! I'm sure I will bring good luck for the coming year to the house.

Then a restful New Years day with a lovely walk out to a part I hadn't visited before - the viaduct for the old railway line which is now a Via Verde. One day I hope we'll do more of this route.
